Read for pleasure and for learning--deeper, analytical reading.
Read fiction & nonfiction, poetry & prose, old & new.
Read print and digital texts, including magazines, newspapers, blogs, websites, online articles, photo essays, videos, podcasts, and, of course--books.
For each book you read, write a review. Include a SHORT synopsis, highlight a particular story grammar (character, conflict, writing style, etc.), whether or not you would recommend this, and who you would recommend it to.
Have a little fun with GoodReads! Create your profile, find friends, recommend titles to each other!

Keep a reading journal, showing ACTIVE, CRITICAL reading.
Your journal is not the place to revise and edit and compose polished pieces: It's the place to record what's going on in your brain when you read. Jot, doodle, list, graph, draw your thinking!

Soundtrack- Create a soundtrack containing at least 6 songs that would accompany your book. Include explanations for each selection.
3rd Quarter:
Be a Podcast Critic- Find, download, and listen to a podcast relating to your book. It may be an author interview, writers' panel, literary critique, historical examination, or any type of thematically relevant information. Evaluate this podcast in either a blog post or a podcast of your own.
4th Quarter:
Poetry Collection- Gather a collection of at least 5 poems that complement your book thematically. Include explanations for each selection.
